Enhancing Developer Tools for Improved Performance Monitoring of Games and Apps

Scenario:

A multinational technology corporation approached us to optimize the information architecture and navigation of a new tool used for publishing and managing games and apps online. The primary goal was to evaluate user performance agnst a predefined task set, along with identifying any usability issues related to business analytics, particularly in terms of monetization.

Approach:

We executed global remote moderated usability tests over two weeks using a mid-fidelity prototype. We recruited thirty participants from small to medium-sized businesses across the Americas, Europe, and Asia who occupied roles such as engineers, quality assurance specialists, marketing managers, and product managers.

Outcome:

During our research, several usability concerns emerged that could hinder successful tool application usage. Through this investigation, we observed that various factors influenced navigation methods, including job positions, business objectives, and the type of apps or games being managed. Several recommations for enhancing the user experience were provided based on these findings.
